Retrofit configuration service
JLR retrofit coding is provided as a vehicle-specific service. JLR retrofit coding completes the configuration stage for supported equipment only after compatible hardware and installation are confirmed.
About JLR Retrofit and Regional Coding
Coding cannot create missing hardware. Cameras, tow modules, switches, wiring, antennas and control units must be correct for the vehicle before configuration is changed.
Regional settings also affect legal, radio, lighting and market-specific behaviour. Changes are assessed against the intended vehicle use and supported specification rather than applied as generic hidden features.
What this service includes
- VIN and existing specification review
- Retrofit hardware and wiring verification
- Original configuration backup
- Supported CCF or module coding
- Regional and market-setting assessment
- Final scan, operation and warning check
The final scope is confirmed before work begins. No feature, key or module is treated as compatible solely because it looks correct or appears in a generic parts list.
When this service may be suitable
- Compatible tow equipment has been installed
- Supported infotainment or convenience hardware has been retrofitted
- A vehicle has a proven market-configuration mismatch
- Replacement hardware requires the vehicle specification updating
- A retrofit works partially but configuration remains incomplete
These signs help route an enquiry, but they do not replace diagnosis. Two vehicles showing the same message can require different work because their platform, software, equipment and failure history differ.
Compatibility and diagnostic checks
- Exact retrofit kit and module part numbers
- Installation, power, ground and network communication
- Software and vehicle-platform support
- Safety calibration and legal requirements
- Original and proposed configuration values
We preserve the complete diagnostic evidence, including the reporting module and DTC suffixes. Low voltage, damaged wiring, lost network communication or missing hardware must be resolved before programming is presented as the answer.
How the mobile service works
- Identify the vehicleConfirm the registration, VIN, exact model, year and fitted security or control-module platform.
- Verify authority and compatibilityCheck ownership where security work is involved and prove the proposed key, part or configuration is suitable.
- Diagnose before changing dataTest battery condition, communication, relevant wiring and the original fault evidence.
- Complete the agreed serviceAfter hardware checks, we back up the starting configuration, apply only the supported changes and validate the retrofit in its real operating conditions. New warnings or communication faults are resolved before handover.
- Validate the resultRepeat the original operating conditions, scan the vehicle and test every affected function before handover.
What to send with your enquiry
Vehicle details
- Registration and VIN where available
- Jaguar, Land Rover or Range Rover model
- Exact model year and postcode
- Whether the vehicle starts and can be moved
Fault or service details
- Number of working keys
- Exact warning wording and full DTC suffixes
- Relevant part numbers or fitted retrofit details
- Recent battery, wiring, module or key work
Photos of the current key, scan report, module labels or dashboard message can prevent the wrong part or service being selected.
Frequently asked questions
Can coding enable hardware that is not fitted?
No. The required physical equipment, wiring, modules and controls must be present and compatible.
Can imported vehicles be changed to UK settings?
Selected supported settings may be configurable, but legal, lighting, frequency and hardware differences must be assessed individually.
Do driver-assistance retrofits need calibration?
Often yes. Configuration does not replace the physical aiming or calibration required for cameras, radar and related systems.
